As popular as it is, it should be of little surprise that the 289 small-block Ford was high on the request list for a Redline Rebuild. Starting with a stock 289 engine out of a totaled 1964 Ford Fairlane, the team decided to have some fun and upgrade from stock with a GT350 inspired build.

While Shelby started with a 271-hp high-performance K-code 289, this base engine needed quite a bit more massaging to get it up to snuff. With all period-correct upgrades including a new cam, Edelbrock F4B intake, carburetor, headers, and some mild porting of the heads, the output should come in at around 310 hp — up a good amount from the stock 195 hp.
