Derek McDonald, an independent artist based in Orange County, California, acquired his 1963 International Harvester Crewcab Travelette in 2017.

Complete custom chassis, air ride and LS3 engine w/ 6L80e.

He bought it sight unseen from “a guy” in Arizona who had chassis swapped the body atop a 1987 Chevy Suburban.

The Suburban chassis swap was poorly done, so Derek turned to a SoCal chassis shop to build a full custom chassis that has been equipped with air suspension and fitted with an LS3 engine backed by a 6L80e transmission.

The engine compartment houses an LS3 engine / 6L80e transmission.

The luggage rack’d Travelette now sports new upholstery and interior, wheels and tires, and many custom designs and modifications…

Ride-Along and Walk-Around

This smokin’ International Harvester is not Derek’s first or only effort — He’s capably built a bevy of solid rides and operates Derek McDonald Artworks, turning discards and salvage into works of automotive-inspired art.
