Meet the Matte Black Unicorn ~ A multi-sheen murdered-out body, monochrome interior, LS-powered badassery…
This project started out as a complete, running 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air with reasonable paint that owner Matt was able to drive home the day he bought it.
After a complete teardown and going-over, the Bel Air got an LS3 crate engine that’ll make 525 horsepower mounted to the reinforced original chassis.
Respecting the original two-tone, the car was painted matte black where the red paint used to be, gloss black covered the white, and all the brightwork and trim were blacked-out to match.
The sinister sled was fitted with Ridetech air suspension and Raceline Billet alloy wheels, of course, painted black. The door handles and mirrors have been shaved and the Tri-5 Chevy sports full-LED lighting.
AutotopiaLA takes a closer look and chats with the owner — Sit back and enjoy the ride…
