Steve Chopko’s 1969 Chevrolet C-10

“My Name is Steve Chopko and I live in Newark, Delaware. You guys have inspired me to hunt down an old pickup of my own that I can use to promote my business. I wanted something Rat Rod-ish just like your site shows. I own and operate The Dye Guy. For the past 25 years, my wife and I restore and repair Leather, Vinyl and Plastic in Cars, Boats and Planes.

I bought this 1969 Chevrolet C-10 short bed truck. It must have been something that was never meant to be driven – the lower A-arms are so wore out, the springs were heated the old school way to drop the stance and the bushings are falling out. The steering box was not even tight to the frame. When you turn left, the body twists and the fan rubs on the fan shroud.

I have owned this truck for three weeks now. I had it inspected, tagged and insured. I have managed to fix the fad shroud, bushings and steering box, so no more slow left turns. I will be replacing the suspension with new springs front and rear as well as the lower A-arms. In two weeks I will be removing the lettering and replacing it with my “Old School” look.

Oh yeah, it leaks water from everywhere. We love it.”

UPDATE:

Steve contacted us to share some updates on his 1969 Chevrolet C-10 short bed truck. He has added all new suspension front and rear and the graphics have been updated to reflect his company, The Dye Guy. The truck has been flat cleared and he plans to lower the stance more.

He tells us it’s running and working great as a cruiser and getting him recognized. He recently made a 250 mile round trip to Ocean City, MD to participate in the “Endless Summer Cruise” weekend.
