Which Bench Vise is the Strongest? It took breaking them to find out…

Fireball Tool wanted to compare bench vises his way — he put 12 different benchtop vises from brands including:

  • Yost,
  • Wilton,
  • JET,
  • Dewalt,
  • Heuer, and
  • Harbor Freight

through 3 different tests to identify the weak points.:

  1. The first test is a maximum clamping force with just the handle. This is important because this is how well it will hold your work.
  2. The next test is a shock load test. You see all the weak points when you hit it with a big hammer.
  3. Then finally a maximum clamping force with a 4-foot cheater bar.

The only way to find the weak spot is to break them…
