Bringing an Abandoned C10 Project Back from the Dead

C10 trucks are the bread and butter of every car show, but this ’71 long bed is pretty far from ready for one.

As about anything goes with time, these old trucks have been wrecked, rusted out, and parted by the thousands out to the point there’s nothing left for a motivated builder with a few hundred dollars and a dream of owning a short bed C10.

Dan from Winnipeg, Canada is just that type of young guy and he’s proving a dream truck can be built from a rusted out and stripped shell with a few hundred dollars and some simple tools.

Check out his video from the DD Speed Shop Youtube channel below…

Dan spotted his latest build gathering holes and mice in a field somewhere in rural Canada.

Having already lived a hard life as a farm truck it’s pretty rusted in the cab and already lacking an engine, but he scooped it up for a few bucks and a set of used headers in trade.

No stranger to metalwork, Dan set to assessing the damage to the cab and tearing off the remains of the box.

Lucky for Dan, or anybody looking to repair a truck like this, all-metal for the rotted cab corners, floors, and rockers is available for a couple hundred more dollars…

With just a few days and some grinding, Dan transformed a pretty worthless old workhorse into a blank slate for the perfect shop truck.

Next up he’s got some pretty wild ideas for engine swapping, shortening, and lowering his freshly repaired C10.

It might not be the usual short bed C10 build, but for the budget-minded buyer, it just might be perfection.

The next time you drive by a graveyard of “too far gone” trucks with a few bucks in the bank, make sure your dream truck isn’t waiting there to be rescued.
