1957 Plymouth Belvedere Buried for 50 Years

Just imagine a free, all original, 1957 Plymouth Belvedere, a true classic car with only 4 miles on the odometer.

Sounds amazing right? Well, there’s a catch…

The Belvedere doesn’t run, it is held together by rust and mud, and it has spent the last 50 years buried in a waterlogged concrete vault.

You see, during the 50s and 60s a trend was emerging: time capsules — You know, take an object, bury it underground, and place a timeline of (commonly) 50 years — 50 years before anyone can dig it out.

Preserving Miss Belvedere

Dwight Foster of Ultra One is on a mission to preserve Miss Belvedere, a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere that was buried in a time capsule for Tulsa, Oklahoma’s 50 anniversary in 1957. When the capsule was opened last year, instead of a shiny ’57 Belvedere, they found a car covered with rust because the concrete vault had leaked. With a little patience, and rust remover, Foster is going to preserve the car for the future…
