The Rusty Truck Hillbilly Hauler and Fifth Wheel Camper ~ Full Tour

The Rusty Truck, built by the late Aza Ziegler, is 1942 Chevrolet 1 ½ ton cab and International Harvester bed box with 1928 Buick fenders, craftily connected with 1955 Chevrolet taskforce truck running boards.

The 12 valve 6BT Cummins Turbo engine exhales through repurposed aluminum culvert/irrigation pipe and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that drives the truck through a set of 4:10 gears.

The turbo Cummins is fed by a fuel tank from a 1920s John Deere combine. The taillights were poached from a GTX and the truck’s path is lit by LED headlights.

The fifth-wheel camper started life as a 1949 International School bus that also served as a chicken coop for 15 years. It is supported by a 15-ton axle and a pair of giant super single semi-truck tires.

Aza Patrick Ziegler

Aza Patrick Ziegler, 41, tragically lost his life on March 21, 2021. Aza was born on Sept. 19, 1979 to Dean Patrick and Mary Ziegler.

He lived his entire life in the Livingston, Montana area. He was proud of his business, Barnsharks, which he and his partner Edgars started. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and was a member of LBMC.

Drag racing and building Rat Rods was a passion he was talented with. He and his son, Preston, were working on a truck for him. He loved his kids with all his heart, and you could often find them in their music room jamming together.

Aza is survived by his three children: Alanis of Boise ID, Preston Patrick, Adalae and their mom, Holli; his parents, Dean and Mary; his brothers, Alex and Abram (Chelsea) of Livingston; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and Abbott, his dog.
