Don’t limit your choice of engine to what you already have — it’s simpler than you think to adapt the transmission you want to the engine you have — it just takes some (relatively) simple equipment and ingenuity.
Editor’s Note: This example adapts a Jaguar XK6 engine to a Chevy T5 transmission with Ford parts in between, but the concepts and methods used are essentially the same as any other combination.
MacroMachines, in a two-part video, will adapt a Jaguar XK6 engine (2.4L sourced from 1958 Jaguar Mark I) to a Chevrolet T5 5-speed transmission (from a late 80s S10 pickup) with Ford Flathead V8 parts in between for his boat-tail speedster build. The Ford flywheel, clutch, and bellhousing are made to work with two custom-made aluminum adapter plates.
