This is a video Dan at DD Speed Shop has been very excited to make!
Everyone always talks about replacing a full floor in a classic car instead of patching together the existing floor.
Dan has done A LOT of floor patchwork in classic cars in his day and has always had the attitude “make it strong and cover it with carpet”. But after doing a full floor replacement, he doesn’t think he can go back…
This solution does look much cleaner than a patched-together floor, but that wasn’t the selling feature. It was FAST, so much faster than a bunch of patches and welding individual braces.
Plus, once you cut all the old floor out, you’re working with nothing but new sheet metal! He says he will be doing this from now on — the pan may cost a few extra dollars, but you save time, welding, grinding, and you don’t lose your mind.
January 27, 2021 ~ Here he goes again…
With all the rust cut out of Dan’s long roof project and the body braced up, it was time to slide the new floor pan in.
This is a project that I absolutely love to do and this video proves that ANYONE can do a full floor replacement in their home garage with minimal tools.
Dan, DD Speed Shop
Until recently, Dan believed that floor patches were the cheap and easier way to fix floors. Plus, each of the full floor pans he’s seen replaced were done using either a rotisserie or lift.
Dan gets after it and demonstrates that a full floor replacement can be done without a lift and in a 2-car garage with a little ingenuity and a can-do attitude. This full-floor solution is a real time saver!
