What’s the YELLOW powder in ABC fire extinguishers? It is mainly 60% mono ammonium phosphate (common plant fertilizer) and 40% Ammonium Sulfate (another common plant fertilizer) with a tiny bit of the natural mineral Mica and yellow dye. BC fire extinguishers are just plain white baking soda. The yellow dye in ABC extinguishers sets them apart from BC dry powder units.
