Box Tube and Sheet Stock ~ Rob’s Hand Built from Scratch Rat Rod

via Combustion Chamber ~ Rob’s Hand Built Rat Rod from Box Tube, Sheet Stock, and Good Ideas

I just wanted to have something to cruise on the street. I’d been riding sportbikes and stuff and I was kind of over that and I wanted to build something.

So I started digging and I was looking around and I liked the styling of rat rods, but some of the ones I saw there from an engineering perspective were kind of scary, so I thought that if I build something with a rat rod style but a little bit more solid engineering and kind of throw in some elements of stuff I think are cool old-school hot rods, World War II aircraft, muscle cars — try to see if I can build a car that wraps all that together…
