1950 Chevrolet 3100 with NASCAR Roots

Well, maybe more than just NASCAR roots.

This 1950 Chevrolet 3100 pickup retains little more than the sheet metal, much of which has been modified to accommodate a NASCAR chassis and drive-train — the truck’s original suspension, brakes, engine, gearbox, electrical, and frame have all been ditched.

The truck looks tough sitting over the wide steelies wrapped in black-walls, its curvaceous fenders cut just enough to allow clearance for suspension travel and turning.

The interior is caged and harnessed and features Kirkey race buckets, and in true race car fashion, the seats are pushed way back, with the pedals and the steering wheel adjusted for reach, along with a Wilwood brake bias adjustment knob.

Instrumentation includes a tachometer and monitors for oil pressure, temp, and coolant, and mount for a smartphone running a GPS speedo app.

The NASCAR chassis is fitted with big spring truck arms, quick-change rear end with ratchet, four-wheel disc brakes, new fuel cell, braided fuel lines, race shocks, T-10 4-speed transmission, and aluminum driveshaft… like it just left the track.

This NASCAR Rooted 3100 is a Crowd Pleaser

Watch Mike Mitchell giving the crowd a great show in Jason Moody’s truck at the 2014 Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway Auto Fair and Swap Meet…

It not only won this burn-out competition, but it also nabbed first place in the truck-only Auto Cross shootout held at the 2015 Good Guys Bowling Green show. Well done…
