Shawn from AutotopiaLA met up with Russ in December 2021 to do a reel on his 1964 Mercury Comet. The car has a 632 Merlin big block Chevrolet engine topped with a 14-71 BDS Blower and puts out 1,300 horsepower. The project cost Russ “23 years, $208K dollars, and two wives” to build.
During filming, the Mercury Comet has brake failure causing the car to slam into the back of a minivan at approximately 45 mph causing injuries to both the driver and passenger. Everyone has healed from the accident and the car will be back on the road one day. But mistakes were made, and lessons were learned. Watch…
AutotopiaLA goes Live to answer any questions about the accident and inform everyone on the situation.
