Rusty but Rare 1976 Chevy K10 Sport Truck Revival!

The GM squarebody trucks produced between 1973 and 1991 are known for their longevity and popularity. They were produced in large numbers, and there is a significant aftermarket for these trucks. Even clapped-out trucks, like this rare ‘Sport’ K10 Stepside version, can be restored with enough time and effort.

Kevin from Junkyard Digs originally acquired the truck with plans to restore it, but later decided to give it to Dalton, the guy behind Pole Barn Garage on YouTube. Kevin believed that Dalton, who had previously revived a severely damaged 1970 Pontiac GTO, was the best person to give the truck to for restoration.

Dalton noted that the Internet has declared this 1976 Chevy K10 Sport Stepside as “unrestorable”. Well, for starters, Kevin and Dalton got this old squarebody running and driving for the first time in 20+ years…

The “Silver Dollar Chevy” Revival Begins

Dalton has dubbed the truck the “Silver Dollar Chevy”, and feels that she wants to live. In the initial installment from Pole Barn Garage, Dalton gives the truck a good looking over, clean out and tune-up, and, well, Pole Barn Garage happens…

’79 Chevy Farm Truck is Sacrificed to Save the ‘Rare ’76 Stepside Chevy K10

Clearly, this hurts Dalton deeply, but he is dismantling and parting out his beloved ’79 Chevy K-10 farm truck for a parts donor for the 1976 Chevy K10 Sport truck project. This old square-body truck has been a workhorse for years and served as the Engine Puller 9000, but her organs and other parts will help revive the ’76 squarebody truck — Rest In Pieces…

Chevy K10 Gets Transmission & Brakes

Dalton makes major progress on the 1976 Chevy Sport K-10 by swapping in a new TH350 transmission delivered by Jay from @IrishOutlawGarage, who gets conned into helping with the installation. Then, the old square body gets brakes all around while this rusty nightmare of a truck turns all efforts into good entertainment. Dalton also takes a trip to @Lmctruck1 to pick up a load of parts to supply this squarebody truck revival in the next episodes…

Chevy K10 Gets Shocks, Exhaust, Tires

It’s a coin flip, but Dalton takes the 1976 Chevy K-10 4×4 Sport Truck out for a drive and wonder if they’ll make it home — will it run and beat the dark with no headlights?! But first, they hit the Silver Dollar Chevy squarebody suspension with fresh shock absorbers, install budget mufflers, mount new tires, and give the steering some attention! Other shortcomings are ignored, but this rare abandoned and forgotten pickup truck revival gets more serious progress…

Chevy K10 Stepside Gets Floors & Rockers

This 1976 Chevy K10 StepSide Sport Truck, aka the Silver Dollar Chevy (SDC), is rusted and rotted beyond fixing — or is it? Watch as they hack and butcher their way to having a solid truck to work from…

Chevy K10 Stepside Sport Gets Doors and Fenders

The Silver Dollar 1976 Chevy Stepside 4×4 Sport Truck gets some huge progress on the restoration as Dalton finishes out the floors with sound deadening, a floor mat, hang doors on it, swap the steering column, and try to fit aftermarket fenders!

More Chevy K10 Stepside DIY Bodywork

Dalton works to finish panel alignment, removing the bed, and beginning some DIY bodywork that YOU can do!

Paint Your Project YOURSELF! Chevy K10 DIY Body & Paint

Dalton demonstrates how you can do the bodywork, primer, and paint YOURSELF at home in your own garage and get good results! He starts by block sanding and spot filling the body before loading it up with primer for a final block sand, then sprays a black base coat on the truck and loads it up with 4 clear coats. Push perfection to the side and get your project painted — YOU can do this too!!

Stay Tuned…
