How To Make A Portable Air Tank From A Propane Tank

Take a spare propane tank and turn it into a useful portable air tank. No Tank Mods, No Removing Valve, No Drilling!

Pressure ratings for propane tanks are in excess of the valve 375psi safety blow-off. 20lb and 30lb propane tanks are dot4ba240 rated which have a service pressure of 240psi and are hydro tested to 2x that (480psi). Compare that to a store-bought portable air tank with a max service pressure of 125psi and no DOT rating.

Editor’s Note: Working with pressure vessels is always dangerous. Dented, rusted or damaged tanks are obviously a poor idea to use.
